Safety First and Always!

July 3, 2019

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas strives to create the safest environment possible for its students, faculty and staff members. Our university is equipped with multiple physical and digital safety features such as RebelSAFE Emergency Phones, university police/security services, and our new Rebel SAFE Mobile App.

RebelSAFE Emergency Phones:

The RebelSAFE emergency phone is available to requested help, report a crime in progress, report suspicious activities, request for an escort, or any other emergency. What is nice about these new state of the art, twelve-foot tall phones is that inside of them are 4000 LED area light and a 360-degree surveillance camera. These wonderful devices are strategically located throughout campus to broadcast alerts in the event of an emergency.

Campus Police and Security:

Our wonderful campus police officers and security staff members do an excellent job of canvassing the university to ensure the safety of campus community members and our visitors. Yet, did you know they offer escort services as well? We know that a great handful of our students and faculty member’s schedule can run late into the evening. For some people they may feel a little nervous walk back to their dormitory, vehicle, or the bus stop alone. Which why it nice to have these services available, at no additional cost for everyone to use. In addition to re-ensure members’ safety and peace of mind here on campus.

Rebel SAFE APP:

The Rebel SAFE Mobile App Provides UNLV students, employees, faculty, and community members with a number of features to keep themselves safe.

  1. Quickly dial Police Services to request help, report a crime in progress, report suspicious activities, or for any other emergency.

  2. Request late night security escorts.

  3. Real-time chat with Police Services Dispatch personnel.

  4. Submit anonymous crime tips.

  5. Receive RebelSAFE Alert push notifications.

  6. Virtual escort to share your GPS location with a friend or family member until you safely reach your destination.

  7. Other safety related information and services offered by Police Services and Health & Wellness.

All three programs (RebelSAFE Emergency Phones, University Police, and RebelSAFE App) work together to ensure that students and faculty members are safe whenever they are on campus.
