March 5, 2020

This is the second of three posts about Greek Life at UNLV. These posts will give you all the information that you need in order to begin your journey towards your chosen fraternity or sorority. These posts are written by (at the time of posting) current Greek Life participants.

Panhellenic Council

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing council for 12 men's fraternities at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. These chapters share the common interests of brotherhood, leadership, academics, and philanthropy/service.

Sorority and fraternity life at a multicultural house may combine aspects of academic and social Greek life. These houses are designed to celebrate diversity, bringing together students from similar cultural backgrounds.

Multicultural Greek Council

The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is the governing council for multicultural fraternities and sororities at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. MGC consists of five fraternities and six sororities, and currently encompasses the following cultures: Asian American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Arab, Latino/a, and Multicultural.

National Pan-Hellenic Council

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing organization for nine historically African-American international Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities. The nine NPHC organizations are often referred to as the "Divine Nine".

Alpha Phi Alpha            Alpha Kappa Alpha        Kappa Alpha Psi

Omega Psi Phi              Delta Sigma Theta           Phi Beta Sigma
Zeta Phi Beta
Sigma Gamma Rho         Iota Phi Theta

Fraternity and sorority membership helps young men and women cultivate leadership skills, gain a sense of social identity, and learn how to cooperate with other classmates, teammates, coworkers, etc.

When going to a college it would not hurt to see what it all about and maybe meet new friends for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
